Commuters Put Their Best Foot Forward During the Summer Walking Challenge

September 21, 2023

Now that summer has officially come to an end, let’s see how some active commuters enjoyed the fresh air and (sometimes) sunny weather! TransAction Associates hosted a summer-long challenge called “Walk it Out.” Commuters logged their walking trips in the Commute Calendar at eCommuter.org, and were eligible to win prizes along the way. Walkers got an online badge for 5 trips logged, a $5 Starbucks gift card for 15 trips, and an entry into a $100 raffle for 30 trips.

The Walk it Out Challenge had 105 participants who were able to get outside, get active, and earn some cool stuff!

During the challenge, commuters logged a total of 9,493.3 miles, and by opting to walk instead of drive, they eliminated 7,366.82 pounds of greenhouse gases from the environment.

As the air turns crisper and the leaves change colors, walkers can continue to commute green no matter the season!
